aCal CalDAV Client for Android

We are proud to have finally released a beta version of aCal into the Android Market.
aCal allows you to access a CalDAV calendar such as dotCal.com or Famjama.com.

aCal is a Calendar application which will use a backend CalDAV server (or several servers) for storing calendar data and allowing you to edit on your phone, or share your calendar between your phone and your computer. You can set up your own CalDAV server on the internet such as DAViCal CalDAV & CardDAV server, or you can work with a provider such as dotCal.com or Famjama.com.

The application was released under the GPLv3 in March 2011, but to save yourself trouble aCal "official" builds are available from the Android Market for NZD$2.00, which will help support development of further features. Or at least buy us a little beer from time to time.

There is some further information about aCal CalDAV Client for Android on the aCal wiki.

aCal is not functional as a standalone calendar app: it requires a CalDAV server connection to work, though it will cope just fine with periods of temporary disconnection.

If you don't want to pay the price to download this pre-built version, the code for aCal is available from gitorious.org, licensed under the GPL v3, but by donating us this small amount along with your download you will sleep better at night, relaxed in the knowledge that you have helped give us some time to spend on this, rather than being distracted by having to be moneygrubbing capitalists quite so often (except for those nights where you set an alarm to wake you up, of course :-)

Corporate Customised Versions

If you like aCal and want to make it available to all of your staff we'd love you to talk to us about a support contract. We've also designed in a customised mechanism to simplify setup in corporate environments.

Extension Work

If there's something in aCal that you would like to see we are happy to consider requests. If you can afford to pay us something to encourage us even further you should definitely get in touch! We love working on aCal, but sometimes we have to do other things to earn an income, so we're really happy when we can combine the two.
